In this module we have learned how to analyse the media with the use of different theories.

In this section we have learned what semiotics mean and how it is associated with our day to day life. We have also learned about the syntagms and paradigms.

In this section we learned about the sociology of the family. We have also learned how family structures have changed over time.
section 3: theories of the audience
In this section we have learned about how the audience take in whatever they see on television or movies. We were also introduced to different theories relating to the audience.

assignment 1: image analysis
We were give an assignment were we have to pick three images within the theme chosen and analysis the three images. I picked the theme "Gender" We had to write our findings with the following criteria:

assignment 2: group presentation
We were divided into groups, consisting of 4 members, and we had to make a presentation about a scene analysis from an episode of a TV series which focuses on the topic of family. We also had to find an article that relates to the scene chosen. My group chose the TV series Shameless US and we did the representation of a family unit.
assignment 3: Multiple-choice test
We sat an online test on Moodle and we were asked to answer questions on the topics we have covered in the prior weeks.
assignment 4: attendance & participation
We were assessed on our attendance and our completion of tasks/assignments/in-class tasks and homework during the module.
