In this module we have learned a lot of theories and how to apply it when it comes to advertising.

In this topic we have learned what advertising is and marketing communications and how important it is. We also learned the different limitations of advertising and how advertisements are spread to the people e.g. through social media.
TOPIC 2: THEoretical background to advertising
In this topic we learned the theories behind advertising. We also learned the different models of the process of communication in advertising.
topic 3: SEgmentation, targeting & branding
In this topic we learned what segmentation, targeting and branding means. We have also learned the different bases of segmentation used by marketers and how it relates to an advertiser's job. We have also learned the four targeting approaches used by marketers.
topic 4: branding
In this topic we learned the various level of brand building and the reasons for branding. I also learned the importance of branding when formulating advertising.
topic 5: advertising objectives
In this topic we were able to identify the key components of a brief and the characteristics of advertising objectives. We have also learned the different approaches to budget planning.

In this topic we learned the different kinds of advertising and how creativity strategies and tactics are very important to advertising.
topic 7: ethics
In this topic we learned how ethics are very important to making advertisements and how it should be distributed to the public.

ASSIGNMENT ONE: WHAT'S UP?
The first continuous assessment that we got is finding news stories in relation to the topic and making a presentation about it.

The second assignment was an in class case study. This was done in groups of three. The case study was about the advertisements of Specsavers and we had to answer questions about it.

The third and last assignment was a creative brief given to us. In groups of four we had to do a plan for a new poster in relation to RTE 2FM Toy Appeal.
